Requirements
1–2 years of relevant accounting or financial reporting experience
Experience with Oracle Fusion or another ERP general ledger system
Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry (an asset)
Familiarity with SmartView and reconciliation tools (an asset)
Strong understanding of accounting operations and balance sheet reconciliations
Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing journal entries and performing balance sheet account analyses within Aviva Canada’s Accounting Operations function.
This role supports accurate and timely financial reporting and contributes to the month‑end close process in accordance with IFRS 17 guidelines.
Prepare and record a wide range of journal entries, including expense accruals, transactions related to specialized insurance programs not automated through the system, owned broker commission accounting, and entries required for equity accounting
Support corporate accounting month-end activities, including processing IBNR journals and late adjustments
Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations and respond to internal and external audit inquiries
Maintain accurate and timely journal entries and financial adjustments throughout the close cycle
