Requirements
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of related experience, education, and training in the finance, accounting, or tax field.
Significant experience applying analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues requiring mature judgment, discretion, and sound decision-making.
Significant experience researching, compiling, and analyzing complex financial data and interpreting financial policies and procedures while ensuring tax compliance, including the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of taxation and accounting theory.
Advanced organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities
We have an opening for a Tax Accountant to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You will be responsible for the preparation, analysis, maintenance, and review of complex institutional accounting, financial, and tax reporting information. This position requires a strong foundation in accounting principles along with knowledge of disbursements processing. This position is in the Disbursements Division of the Finance Department within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO).
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.
You will
Prepare, reconcile, and file federal and state tax reporting including 1099, 1042, 592, and sales and use tax filings while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Analyze and reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts, research discrepancies, and prepare journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Serve as a tax subject matter resource to Accounts Payable, Procurement, and Travel Accounting on non-employee and supplier tax compliance requirements and appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions.
