Responsibilities
Toronto General Hospital
The Operating Room at TGH is comprised of 21 Operating Theatres as well as the Multi Purpose OR (MPOR) a Translational Research Image Guided OR (TRIGOR) and Organ Regenerative Laboratory (ORL) and encompasses a wide variety of surgical services including Cardiovascular, Thoracic, General Surgery, Gyne Oncology, Urology, Head and Neck and Plastics.
There is also a Robotic program in some of the specialties.
There is an ECHMO program to support patients with ARLS as well as VAD program; Minimally Invasive Surgery and Living Related Donor program.
Every Operating Room is equipped with a computer where nurses can retrieve web-based resources and document their perioperative nursing care.
The majority of patients are adults requiring surgery on the inpatient or outpatient basis.
