Registered Nurse

Recent surgical experience required

Recent Pre-Admission Clinic nursing experience preferred

Experience with phlebotomy and in obtaining ECGs, preferred

Caring, compassionate and patient- and family-centered

Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the profession

Functions independently within scope of practice

Department:

Surgical Program – Dual Unit between Pre Admission Clinic (PAC) and Surgical Day Care (SDC) -0.2 FTE/0.8 FTE Split

Hours:

Monday to Friday, days, 7.5 hour shifts, 0600-1400, 0630-1430, 0700-1500, 0800-1600, 0900-1700, 1000-1800, 1100-1900, 1200-2000 1300-2100 (Hours subject to change based on operational needs)

Salary:

$40.24 to $57.68 per hour

Assessment of patients to establish priorities and create a plan of care; administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician according to established policies and protocols; proficient in educating patients/families about specific surgical procedures and the required care involved in such procedures both pre and post operative.

The successful incumbent will also instruct patients and families on topics regarding health education and promotion across the continuum of care.

Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families.
