Requirements
Strong technical understanding of codes and standards applicable to electrical distribution equipment, including UL 1558, UL 891, UL 1008, UL 67, IEEE C37.20, and related standards.
Hands-on experience with product testing, certification, and listing processes through UL and/or other NRTLs.
Ability to interpret ambiguous or evolving standards and apply them pragmatically to real-world product designs.
Constructive problem-solving skills to address technical and regulatory challenges.
Demonstrated success collaborating across multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams.
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
The Application Engineering Program Manager is a central coordination role responsible for managing the intake, triage, and assignment of all incoming requests to the Application Engineering team. This role ensures that work is routed to the right engineer, tracked through completion, and escalated appropriately, enabling the team to respond quickly and consistently to internal and external stakeholders. By keeping the pipeline organized and performance visible, the Application Engineering Program Manager helps IEM deliver responsive, high-quality technical support in support of our commitment to powering what's next.
The role is responsible for compliance with relevant industry regulations for multiple electrical distribution product lines. The position will support IEM’s expanding production campuses within the US and Canada. The Senior Regulatory Engineer position will include the following functions:
Provide authoritative interpretation of applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CSA, ANSI/IEEE C37.20) and translate requirements into clear, actionable guidance for cross-functional engineering teams.
Serve as a lead technical resource to R&D, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Manufacturing on standards-driven design decisions and compliance pathways.
Act as the primary technical interface with UL and other NRTLs, defining certification approaches, supporting testing and evaluation activities, and maintaining product listings and certifications.
