Requirements
Advanced knowledge of concepts, theories and practices related to human services and/or community development, normally acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Community Mental Health, or other relevant discipline
(Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
Five to seven years direct experience working in a shelter or supportive housing environment (or equivalent) providing support to individuals living with experiences of homelessness, poverty, violence/trauma, and concurrent diagnosis;
Management and supervisory experience required;
Ability to understand and interpret legislation that includes the Ontario Human Rights Code, Residential Tenancies Act as well as municipal, provincial, and federal government policies related to shelter and supportive housing management;
Maintains working knowledge of the Toronto Shelter Standards;

Responsibilities
Provides oversight of the business administrator, front desk, food services, and community liaisons providing services to participants at 1st Stop Woodlawn;
Oversees vendor relationships, community partnership as well as monitors procurement practices in collaboration with the Business Administrator;
Supports the community liaisons with coordination and development of social and recreational programming and community engagement opportunities for 1st Stop Woodlawn participants;
In collaboration the Facility and IPAC managers, attend to the maintenance of the building’s infrastructure, monitoring of key building systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations;
Maintains a working knowledge of the Toronto Shelter Standards, Ontario Human Rights Code, The Residential Tenancies Act, City of Toronto Multi- Tenant Houses By-Law and other applicable legislation;
Ensures that statistical records are maintained and submits a comprehensive annual report on the programs with an analysis of trends to identify risks and opportunities;

This position shares the management responsibility for the overall operation of 1st Stop Woodlawn with the Manager of 1st Stop Woodlawn, Residential Support and Client Services. 1st Stop Woodlawn consists of a 50-bed emergency shelter, 12 beds of transitional housing, and 72 units of multi-tenant permanent housing for women and gender diverse people over the age of 16. This includes leadership across operational departments such as Food, Front Desk and Relief Staffing. This role actively collaborates with the Property Services and Infection Prevention and Control departments and acts as a point of coordination to achieve seamless operations in accordance with the mission of YWCA Toronto.
