Data Center Engineer

Have 5+ years of experience working in a data center environment and a strong knowledge of data center best practices and cabling methodology

Self-starter; motivated to work independently and improve processes where possible

Thrive in a fast-paced setting that demands continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies

Knowledgeable in networking fundamentals; can address Layer 2 and 3 connectivity issues

Proficient in a Linux environment (Scripting skills in Bash or Python are a plus)

Experienced with a variety of network and server hardware

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Center Engineer to design, build, scale, and perform daily upkeep in our regional data center. This is a hands-on position that will require a strong communicator with excellent people skills who can manage projects and take ownership.

You will join an interdisciplinary team made up of several groups across Jane Street, including our Network, Server, Facilities Engineering, Research, and Trading teams, along with some external data center operators, third-party contractors, and cabling, hardware, and telco vendors. You will collaborate with these stakeholders to:

Design plans for new equipment deployments

Coordinate logistical tasks with internal teams and third-party providers

Install, cable, configure, and troubleshoot different types of network and server equipment

Install and configure server OS in a PXE environment
