Responsibilities

Ensure the inspection of all buildings during construction to ensure compliance with the approved plans, Provincial Safety Codes, Quality Management Plan, Municipal by-laws and other applicable laws.
Ensure the maintenance of accurate and detailed records of inspections and investigations utilizing the electronic building permit information system.
Ensure all relevant inspections are conducted, orders or notices relating to terms of permits and/or regulations violated are issued in accordance with established procedures including the preparation of evidence, producing documentation and recommending penalties before a judge or justice of the peace.
Confer with and provide information to property owners, contractors, developers, engineers, architects, and the public regarding conformance to standards, plan specifications and codes; explain codes, requirements and procedures and evaluate alternatives.
Receive and investigate complaints or concerns of residents; ensure appropriate information is provided and/or corrective action is taken
