Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline (e.g. engineering) preferred. Two or more years of relevant power plant experience required with Bachelors Degree; five or more years of relevant power plant required without degree, with preference given for operations experience. Five or more years of relevant heavy industrial experience may be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with power plant experience. Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts required,

including weekends and holidays

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Good decision-making, communication, leadership skills, as well as good technical knowledge of power plant principles required.

Responsibilities

The Shift Supv I is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating all phases of mechanical and electrical operations of power plant equipment to ensure continuous, safe, efficient, and economical operation.

● Lead plant personnel including Unit Operating Engineers (who operate the plant from a central control room), Production Operating Engineers (who operate and maintain the field equipment), Master Control Technicians (who maintain the instruments and controls) and Coal Equipment Operating Engineers (who operate the heavy mobile equipment for pushing coal and the stationary coal receiving equipment).
