Requirements
Highschool Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in related field would be an asset.
The Municipality of Port Hope operating systems are: Water Treatment Subsystem Class II and Water Distribution Subsystem Class III. Where not already certified as such, the Water Treatment Subsystem Class II and Water Distribution Subsystem Class III Certificates are to be attained within five (5) years or a time frame mutually agreed.
At a minimum, a valid Water Treatment Operator in Training (OIT) Certificate and Water Distribution OIT Certificate are required.
Backflow tester certification would be an asset.
Wastewater Treatment System License OIT or above would be an asset.
Wastewater Collection License OIT or above would be an asset.

Responsibilities
Perform all water related maintenance and operational duties as required by applicable Acts, Statutes, Regulations, Policy and Procedures and Quality Management System.
Rotate between Water Treatment and Water Distribution systems on a scheduled or as needed basis, which includes on call coverage.
Control and maintain all water system process equipment and appurtenances (e.g. mains, valves, services, hydrants) that affect pressure, flow and level for the water treatment and distribution facilities, including but not limited to the Victoria Street Booster Pumping Station, the Jocelyn Street Reservoir / Pumping Station, the Dorset Street Standpipe, the Fox Road Elevated Tank, and the Ward 2 Municipal drinking water systems and others as required.
Use and operate a variety of instruments to monitor water quality; collect regulatory and non-regulatory samples for in-house and external analysis and adjust process equipment accordingly based on the analysis of samples.
Inspect and maintain complex electronic and mechanical equipment; troubleshoot malfunctions and alarms; execute repairs and replacement of electrical and mechanical components as necessary.
Use computer and related software to control and monitor equipment, store data, generate reports, make process evaluations and optimizations.
