Requirements
6+ years in a software product management role, with demonstrated experience building a new product or business from early stages.
A track record of deep customer engagement — building real relationships with customers and turning those insights into products that win.
Strong technical fluency — you can go deep with engineers on data models, APIs, and system architecture, and you establish credibility quickly.
Active use of AI tools in your day-to-day product work. You should be able to point to specific ways AI makes you faster and better today.
Proven ability to set product vision and roadmaps, and to ship products that deliver measurable business results on tight timelines.
Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting to enterprise customers, senior executives, and cross-functional teams. Equally strong writing clear strategy documents and concise product specs.
Responsibilities
Every day, the world’s largest fleets depend on maintenance operations to keep their vehicles and equipment running. When a truck breaks down on the side of a highway or a piece of heavy equipment fails on a job site, the cost isn’t just a repair bill — it’s missed deliveries, idle crews, compliance risk, and eroded customer trust. Despite the stakes, most maintenance teams still run on spreadsheets, whiteboards, and legacy systems that haven’t changed in decades. Samsara is changing that.
The Connected Asset Maintenance team is building Samsara’s next major product line — a modern, intelligent maintenance and asset management platform purpose-built for physical operations. We’re a few quarters in, moving fast, and building from the ground up. Think of this as a startup inside Samsara: a small, focused team with the full backing of a scaled platform, massive distribution, and millions of connected assets already generating the data that makes our product uniquely powerful.
We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager who will own a significant portion of our Maintenance product. You’ll report directly to the VP of Product & Engineering for the Business Unit. One week you might be in a maintenance garage watching a fleet technician diagnose an engine fault, and the next you’ll be whiteboarding a new workflow with your engineering team or jumping on a call with Sales to close a strategic deal. You’ll spend serious time on-site with customers — not just interviewing them, but learning their world: how work orders flow, how parts get tracked, how a maintenance director decides what gets fixed today versus next week. That depth of understanding is what separates good products from great ones in this space.
