Responsibilities
The Ophthalmic Technician will work with the ophthalmology team to provide patient care by performing various eye-related clinic tasks. The Ophthalmic technician will assist the provider in various functions as delegated to allow for proper professional diagnosis and treatment of patients’ conditions.
Assists providers and other clinical staff with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
Prepares patient for scheduled procedures.
Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline as determined by the clinic team.
Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications and ensure accuracy and proper documentation in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR).
