A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred)
A minimum of 10+ years of experience in sports or entertainment event production management
Previous supervisory experience in an event capacity including supervising event staff
Previous experience in budget development, tracking and management
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and ability to learn required business systems
Responsibilities
The Sr. Director, Events is responsible for the overall event management, production and logistical operations of concerts, family shows, private events and sporting events at the Oakland Arena and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. This role will manage budget, profitability and client/tenant relationships.
Ensure successful event coordination activities by supervising and training Event Managers and Guest Services Managers. Plan, organize and assign all day-to-day work assignments for Events Department personnel including Event Managers and Guest Services Managers.
Direct and supervise all aspects of operations including event coordination and services, event staffing, audio/visual production services, security, crowd and risk management, police, fire and safety personnel, and ADA compliance.
Manage supervisors who oversee employees in various functions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Assist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements for event services, including union collective bargaining agreements, security, event staffing and other agreements as needed. Review contracts for compliance with event and/or government specifications and suitability for occupancy.
