Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Economics or a related field (PhD strongly preferred).
12+ years' experience in macroeconomics, monetary policy, labor economics, capital markets, and economic risk.
10+ years' working in large, global matrixed company
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience synthesizing macroeconomic and labor market signals into clear business implications, scenarios, and trade‑offs, and advising senior leaders on strategic decisions.

This role will be located in New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Sunnyvale, CA or can be remote.

The Chief Economist serves as LinkedIn’s senior authority on global economic trends, labor markets, and the future of work, partnering closely with LinkedIn’s Executive Leadership and reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer. This role will inform strategic decisions, customer advice, and LinkedIn’s brand in policy and media circles. This role blends rigorous economic research with real-world application—translating complex macroeconomic, financial, and technological dynamics into actionable insights that inform business strategy, public dialogue, and societal impact.
The Chief Economist leads a multidisciplinary team of economists and data scientists, shaping original research on global labor markets, artificial intelligence and work, monetary policy, capital markets, and economic risk. As a trusted internal and external voice, this leader represents LinkedIn with policymakers, media, academic institutions, boards, and global stakeholders.
