Requirements
A minimum of 3 years in US tax experience in an accounting firm and/or industry.
Comprehensive knowledge and application of US corporate tax rules
Familiarity with Canadian, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Sweden corporate tax rules is an asset
Familiarity with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (‘ASPE’) is an asset
Proven track record in team management, including coaching and providing feedback to work prepared by junior members of staff
Familiarity with NetSuite ERP, Salesforce CRM, or Avalara’s AvaTax sales tax engine is an asset
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Global Tax, the US Tax Manager is responsible for the oversight of Global Relay’s dynamic United States tax function.
The US Tax Manager is familiar with key concepts of US taxation, such as corporate tax, indirect taxes (sales and use tax), and other tax regimes that may be applicable to Global Relay such as gross receipts and franchise taxes.
The US Tax Manager is highly collaborative with our Financial Reporting, AR & Billing, and Payroll teams to work to ensure that US tax compliance is timely and accurate.
The US Tax Manager takes a broad strategic view of the tax function while ensuring comprehensive analysis and problem solving of tax matters and is involved in international tax matters outside of the US.
Lead the preparation and primary review of Global Relay’s portfolio of interim and year-end corporate tax provisions for the United States for over 13 (and growing) jurisdictions
Own the financial reporting impact of US corporate taxes including the recognition of corporate tax expense and disclosure within Global Relay’s financial statements and book-to-tax analyses
