Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiac Short Stay - 4BW PMB
The Cardiovascular Surgery Inpatient unit is a dynamic, fast paced 28-bed unit.
The UHN CV Surgery division has one of the few Canadian myectomy surgery programs, a large adult congenital cardiac surgery programs, and specialized programs such as transapical aortic valve replacements and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD).
Nurses manage patients with pacemakers, chest tubes, and tracheotomies.
Ongoing educational programs support advanced roles such as dedicated telemetry nurse and management of patients with ventricular assist devices.
