NY State Certification in Special Education required
Minimum five years of experience as teacher of students with disabilities
School Based Leader Certification is required- acceptable for those in process of their SBL.

Responsibilities
Elicit referrals for students in need of placement through outreach to Central Based Support Team.
Act as liaison with CSE teams for students in need of special education programs.
Act as member of school-based team during screenings of incoming students for placement and planning.
Review the student’s current developmental profile to ensure appropriate placement recommendations; ensure that goals are appropriate and current.
Monitor educational programming; ensure staff is knowledgeable regarding responsibilities related to implementation of the IEP; ensure pre- and post-assessment of students’ development; collect and review progress reports for IEP updates and annual review as per the specifications and time lines mandated in SED regulations and DOE contracts.
Participate in the development of IEPs to ensure completeness and appropriateness.
