Requirements
5-8+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating ownership of onboarding, activation, or growth-related experiences in B2B SaaS or complex consumer products.
A proven ability to design for early user value, with experience shaping top-of-funnel or first-use experiences that help users quickly understand, trust, and adopt a product.
Comfort working in 0→1 and highly ambiguous problem spaces, where patterns are still emerging and success requires exploration, iteration, and strong design judgment rather than following established playbooks.
Experience designing AI-powered or data-informed experiences, with curiosity and hands-on exposure to products that leverage AI, machine learning, or conversational interfaces (direct experience with LLM-powered features is a strong plus).
Fluency using research and data to inform design decisions, including partnering on experiments, interpreting qualitative and quantitative signals, and iterating designs based on real user behavior.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data partners, communicate design rationale clearly, and move work forward in complex environments.
Responsibilities
Design how Asana shows up in LLM-driven discovery experiences, shaping how users encounter, understand, and evaluate Asana through conversational AI interfaces like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini as these become primary entry points to work software.
Partner closely with product, engineering, data science, research, and business teams to design the end-to-end handoff experience between LLM platforms and Asana, ensuring transitions from discovery into the product feel clear, trustworthy, and grounded in real user value.
Design and iterate on in-product LLM-to-trial onboarding and early activation journeys, translating user intent from conversational AI into meaningful starting points in Asana that help new users quickly recognize value and confidently begin using the product.
Partner with product and data teams to ensure growth experiences connect user needs directly to activation and early engagement, driven by clarity, usability, and a deep understanding of how people work.
Contribute to the evolution of design patterns, principles, and best practices for AI-first acquisition and onboarding, helping shape how product-led growth experiences are designed in this new environment.
About the Company
We design the future of teamwork. Asana has a bold, ambitious mission: help humanity thrive by enabling the world’s teams to work together effortlessly. Our design team is at the heart of that mission.
Asana Design is an inclusive and collaborative community. We’re a diverse group of designers from different backgrounds (product, brand and content design, design operations, producers, motion design, film, copywriting). We are a team that loves combining research, data insights, and peer feedback into a human-centered design process to produce designs that are core to the power of our applications. We partner with people across Asana to create our product, shape our brand, and drive greater impact through design. We use design to solve challenges and create experiences that customers love. We also take the time to get weird and have fun along the way.
