Responsibilities

The House of Commons Digital Service and Real Property team is currently looking to staff the Systems Technician, Audiovisual Event Support position. This position is full time on-site five (5) days per week.

As a Systems Technician, you will provide front-line operational support for audiovisual, video conferencing, and broadcast systems across the Parliamentary Precinct. Working in live production environments, you will set up, configure, and test required equipment, ensure system readiness, perform maintenance, and deliver direct client-facing support to Members of Parliament and operational partners. You will be responsible for the real-time operation and reliability of systems during proceedings and events, while collaborating with engineering, product line, and IT partners responsible for system design and security.

In this role, you will work with a wide range of audiovisual and multimedia technologies—including audio, video, videoconferencing, broadcast, and control systems—used to support parliamentary proceedings, committee meetings, and events. You will install and deploy equipment and support the integration of new technologies into the digital media infrastructure to ensure systems remain modern and aligned with evolving operational requirements.

You will also contribute to system upgrades and enhancements across the audiovisual environment while supporting the development of technical documentation and the adoption of tools and operational practices that promote consistency, knowledge sharing, and effective service delivery across teams.

As part of the position, you must be willing to work weekends, shift work, early morning, daytime, and late evening shifts, and potentially be on call/overtime on short notice.
