Requirements

3-5+ years of experience in a high-pressure news environment.

Strong understanding of digital publishing best practices and basic elements of design and presentation.

Familiarity with using analytics tools and data to inform editorial decisions and engagement strategies.

Responsibilities

The focus of this role will be working on our flagship newsletter, First Up, while also supporting the broader newsletter portfolio and other audience engagement initiatives.

This role falls within the Team Editor classification in the Star’s Editorial Department and will report to the Senior Editor, Audience Engagement and Live Journalism.

Team editors can be assigned to any newsroom department across a variety of assignments.

Work side-by-side with our lead newsletter writer and digital producers to develop ideas, sharpen insights and experiment with new formats to ensure our journalism cuts through the noise.

Curate, edit, and publish compelling newsletters that engage and retain subscribers and meet the Star’s standards.

Collaborate with the broader newsroom to identify the best Star journalism to showcase to our most loyal readers and develop innovating ways to present it.
