Responsibilities
The Substitute Preschool Instructor provides temporary instructional and classroom support to ensure continuity of care and high-quality early childhood education during the absence of regular staff. This role supports the social-emotional, developmental, and educational needs of children ages 2–5 in alignment with California Department of Education (CDE) early learning frameworks and Community Care Licensing (Title 22) regulations. The Substitute Preschool Instructor works collaboratively with site leadership and classroom teams to maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This position reports directly to the Preschool Program Manager.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide developmentally appropriate instruction and supervision to preschool-aged children in accordance with center curriculum, daily schedules, and licensing requirements.
Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment that meets all Community Care Licensing (Title 22) health and safety standards.
Support children’s social-emotional development, positive behavior, and engagement in learning activities.
Implement classroom routines, transitions, and activities as directed by the lead teaching team or site leadership.
