Requirements

3 to 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role, preferably including exposure to laboratory or research computing environments.

In-depth knowledge of system administration, network protocols, and security best practices.

Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and understanding of how virtual machines might be used for lab systems or simulations.

Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and how they can integrate with on-premises systems for data storage or analysis.

Demonstrated ability to diagnose and solve problems efficiently, with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex system issues in a timely manner.

Experience working directly with laboratory instrumentation or scientific data systems, and an eagerness to learn new lab technologies and automation platforms as they emerge.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our organization's IT infrastructure while ensuring that laboratory systems (such as sequencer PCs and other lab instruments) run smoothly.

This position involves a combination of traditional system administration, troubleshooting, and proactive system enhancement tasks, alongside dedicated support for lab-specific technologies and projects.

The Systems Administrator will work closely with other IT professionals, scientists, lab technicians, and cross-functional teams to ensure the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of both enterprise and laboratory systems, keeping projects on track and meeting critical lab deadlines.
