Requirements

Post-secondary education in Construction Engineering & or Civil Engineering Technology.

Demonstrated experience with Alberta Transportation construction specifications and testing and reporting requirements will be an asset.

Previous experience with soil analysis, soil compaction, and field testing.

Previous experience testing hot mix asphalt.

Previous CCIL certifications for Aggregate, Concrete, and Asphalt testing will be an asset.

Demonstrated willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

As a Material Technician, you are an essential member of the team responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and integrity of construction materials used in various projects. Your role involves conducting tests, analyzing data, and providing technical expertise to support the selection, handling, and application of materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other construction-related materials. With your attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to quality assurance, you contribute to the successful completion of construction projects while upholding industry standards and regulatory requirements.

We have immediate opportunities for experienced candidates. We are also looking to build a strong roster of candidates we can call upon to support our Clients throughout Alberta with engineering and construction, at all experience levels, during the 2026 construction season.

Conducting material field testing such as field compaction testing, hot mix asphalt sampling, and asphalt coring, as part of QC/QA programs.

Conducting occasional wet concrete sampling.

Working in field laboratories completing quality assurance or quality control testing for grading, base or paving projects.

Using nuclear gauges to confirm density and moisture of granular base.
