Responsibilities

The Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) position involves providing specialized lactation services and education to patients and infants within an inpatient setting.

The role is integral to the interdisciplinary patient care team, focusing on addressing complex breastfeeding issues and ensuring quality care and an exceptional experience for patients.

Demonstrates expertise in care of mothers/infants with complex breastfeeding problems.

Determines breastfeeding plan and provides instruction and support to mothers breastfeeding children requiring hospitalization.

Evaluates positive signs of lactogenesis and milk transfer.

Evaluates adequacy of breast milk intake and determines appropriate goals.
