Responsibilities

The Asphalt Plant Laborer is a vital member of the plant crew, responsible for performing a wide range of manual and equipment-based tasks that support the production of high-quality hot mix asphalt. This role is foundational to the plant’s daily operations, focusing on maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient workspace. Beyond manual labor, the Laborer is expected to assist with preventative maintenance, manage inventory through material handling, and eventually cross-train on various mobile equipment to support the overall production goals of the facility.

Assist in the preventative maintenance of plant components, including greasing bearings, replacing conveyor idlers, and inspecting drive belts and pulleys.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness around the plant by shoveling spilled material, sweeping walkways, and ensuring the grounds are free of debris to prevent safety hazards.

Under supervision, operate mobile equipment such as skid steers, front-end loaders, or water trucks to manage stockpiles or clean the yard.

Utilize various hand and power tools—including shovels, rakes, pneumatic hammers, sledgehammers, and wrenches—to complete repairs or operational tasks.
