Requirements
Must be able to pass engineer licensing requirements, rules examinations, and all other requirements of the training programs for cleaner and terminal carman assignments.
Cleaning work on own or as part of a cleaning crew, experience in factory or fleet maintenance, heavy equipment operation, railroad mechanical or operating experience, successful work with varying shifts or night shifts, prior licensing for positions in the truck, airline, or rail industry, outdoor or varying shifts in military service.
Compensation & Benefits
:
Wages start at $27.04 per hour and after completion of terminal carmen training top out at $35.62 per hour.
Pay increases are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Benefits include pensions, tuition reimbursement, medical care, dental care, college tuition reimbursement, and life insurance.
Responsibilities
Clean disinfect interiors (seats, floors, toilets, walls, and windows) and exteriors (stainless steel sides and windows) of railroad cars used to transport passengers.
Inspect, move, couple, and uncouple passenger cars at terminals to the extent needed to prepare cars for train service.
Refill water tanks on cars.
Conduct safety tests, perform inspections, make minor repairs, perform preventive maintenance, and other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
