Requirements

Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering;

Minimum 5 years of experience in building mechanical systems engineering based on Ontario industry standards;

Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire detection, suppression and safety systems, electrical supply and distribution systems, and lighting systems;

Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, the National Fire Code, and the Ontario Electrical Code;

Professional designation (P. Eng.)

Hands-on practical experience in the testing, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment is an asset;

Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for design and assessment of building mechanical systems and components. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and operation of mechanical designs. Key responsibilities include conducting research, analyzing data, preparing technical documentation and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. To be successful, you will combine technical expertise with creativity and problem-solving to drive engineering projects from concept to completion.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing projects including oversight of the approved scope of work to ensure all activities are completed;

Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications;

Perform heating and cooling load calculations, size pipes and ducts, size expansion tanks, select mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, AHU’s, pumps etc
