Requirements

Law Degree required

4-7 years of experience at a law firm or as in-house counsel

Strong experience in litigation and significant knowledge of copyright and other intellectual property law

Experience with and/or knowledge of the music industry [a plus]

Demonstrated ability to build trusted advisor relationships with internal clients, and to provide legal advice and support to internal non-legal stakeholders

Strong negotiation skills and work ethic

Responsibilities

Support the Head of U.S. Litigation on a variety of litigation, enforcement matters, and prelitigation claims. Counsel business units on a wide range of matters including copyright

Legal Counseling

Regularly counsel U.S. record labels and global business units on various matters (e.g., risk mitigation, litigation, intellectual property, compliance, contract interpretation, draft contract language, and company policies and procedures).

Conduct pre-release review of videos, artwork, lyrics and other creative content for copyright, trademark, publicity rights, First Amendment, and other legal issues.

Litigation

Manage and drive strategy for affirmative and defensive litigations, arbitrations, regulatory proceedings, third-party claims, and other intellectual property enforcement matters in federal, state, and foreign jurisdictions.

As a Director, Litigation, Business and Legal Affairs, you will provide legal support to our record labels and global business units with a primary focus on litigation. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Head of U.S. Litigation, Business and Legal Affairs.
